An amazing ride!

Do you recognize this young man? I hope so, but if not his name is Jimmer Fredette.  He was the starting point guard for BYU basketball this year.  I want to tell you a little story that indirectly involves him.  My sons have been BYU fans for forever and have been following Jimmer's career for years!  They are huge fans of his.  David and I decided that since this year was going to be incredible for BYU (Jimmer was an all American last year and chose to return to BYU over the NBA for his senior year) we wanted to take the kids to some games.  Well the first one we went to was on Dave's birthday and it was the Fresno Pacific game. We had a wonderful time with the whole family.  Jessa was even home from college and she was able to go.  The next game is where my story really begins.  I was talking to a friend from high school - Shaunna - and we decided we wanted to go to another game together. She contacted another friend of ours - Greg - (who is a bigwig-hehe sorry Greg- in the Cougar Club) and he  got all of us tickets.  it was the UNLV game and we met Gayle, Greg's wife, his family, Shaunna, Todd and their family and had an amazing time watching BYU and Jimmer beat UNLV.  Now, you have to know my son Christopher is a huge Utah fan.  I know - where did I go wrong?  Anyway, after going to this game Christopher decided that the one thing he wanted in this life was Jimmer Fredette's autograph.  He was heartbroken to learn the other games had been sold out and he would not have the opportunity to get said autograph.  He also has changed his opinion of sports in general and now desires with all of his heart to play basketball (thank you Jimmer and co for getting him off the couch away from video games :) ).  Well after much thinking, and after Mitch's disappointments with soccer I knew I needed to do something for my boys so I sent Gayle a message asking her if she would ask Greg if there was a way I could write someone and get Jimmer's autograph.  Well yesterday in the mail came three sets of BYU player cards, each of them with Jimmer's autograph.  Greg had Jimmer in his office and he signed those cards for my boys.  I have to say I have the very best friends in the world.  Thank you with all my heart Greg, Gayle and Jimmer!  You should have seen the light on my boys' faces.  Thanks also Jimmer for this amazing season you gave us as BYU fans.  I know it may never happen again. You not only have been an outstanding bb player but a real example to my kids of character, sportsmanship, and have helped their testimonies grow. Thank you!
For the rest of you here is something to enjoy - just in case you missed it....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W5L3SNbU2NQ

Good grief

I think I forgot this blog existed lol.  Sorry.  Things have been a little nuts around our home.  At the end of February our oldest son, Mitch, was kicked in the leg at a soccer practice and it turned out he tore his ACL, MCL and lateral miniscus.  Well he finally had surgery on Tues March 29th and I will take a picture soon and post it to show you this monster brace he is wearing for the next 8 weeks.  He was in surgery for 4 hours and his recovery has been slow.  He had his gall bladder removed a year ago and it has made this recovery much harder and more painful.  I was so glad on Sunday night to see the old Mitch emerge from the pain, sickness and fatigue he has been enduring. It was a treat for me to see him smile and laugh again.  Welcome back bud - we are going to make it through this together!  I love you!
